Bailout or Tax Free??

A friend mentioned to me the other day there was an unpopular idea in Washington last year. Rather than create all the bailouts, why not announce 2009 as a federal tax free year. Supposedly the bailouts equate to roughly 3.5 Trillion dollars which is about the same as tax revenues each year. Imagine what the difference that would have made. Sure, we may have lost some large companies, but think of all the new ones that would have started. imagine all the merchandise, cars, homes etc. that would have been bought. I think.......it's a pretty "outside the box" idea. What do you think?
